Preparing for Move Day

What to Have Ready Before Your Movers Arrive

A simple checklist of what to prepare before your moving labour crew arrives — packing, supplies, access and truck readiness — so your booked hours are used efficiently.

Pack and box everything you can

If you booked loading or moving labour, have boxes packed, sealed and labelled by room before the crew arrives. Loose items take much longer to handle and eat into your booked time. If you need help packing, book packing support separately and have the supplies ready.

Have your supplies ready

For truck and container moves, have moving blankets, ratchet straps or tie-downs, shrink wrap and mattress bags on hand. The crew brings dollies and basic tools, but you're responsible for the protective supplies. Having them ready means the crew can wrap and load without waiting.

Make access easy

Reserve the elevator if your building requires it. Clear walkways and hallways. If possible, have the truck or container parked as close to the door as you can. Tell the crew about stairs, long carries or tight access when booking so the time estimate is accurate.

Set aside what you'll move yourself

Plan to personally transport cash, jewelry, medications, important documents and irreplaceable items. Set those aside before the crew arrives so they don't get mixed into the general move.

Be there to direct

You don't have to lift anything — that's what the crew is for. But being on site to point out what's going, what's staying, and where things should go at the destination keeps everything moving smoothly.
